Hayah Film Competition 2008

Rules & Regulations

• Films must not exceed five minutes in length.
• The work must be an integral whole in itself, i.e. not an episode of a TV serial or a TV program.
• An individual can submit one film to the competition.
• Each submitted film should be submitted to one category: Student (anyone with a valid student ID from a school, college, or
  university in the Middle East), Professional (person working in the field of film, film making, film production, film editing, broadcasting, or related fields. This would include teachers and trainers in these fields as well), or Amateur (anyone else).
• Films must follow the official technical specifications.
• Films must be produced after January 2008.
• The final deadline for accepting submitted applications and films is in October 2008.
• Entries should be submitted online at www.hayahfilm.com.
• The film should not previously have been shown on any television channel nor made available for download or streamed via the internet, or in any other way broadcast to any publicaudience.
• Participants are not entitled to withdraw their films after submission.

General Considerations

• Overall, 4 Awards will be given, including: One prize in each of the following categories: Student, Professional, Amateur, and 1 People’s Choice Award. The Jury will select winners in general categories with the People’s Choice Award being the result of online registered voting by general audiences.
• The awards will be presented at MEIFF’s Closing Night Ceremony. Winners must be present at the Closing Night Ceremony to receive their awards.
• The final Jury for Hayah consists of three (3) members representing Middle East International Film Festival, EmiratesMac, and Abu Dhabi Women’s College.
• Rules & regulations are non-negotiable. Participating in the competition automatically means acceptance of all rules of the competition.
• All films will will be reviewed by the screening committee and final selection decisions will be final.
• The organizer has the right to publish all submitted works on www.hayahfilm.com and other web sites, and the usage of extracts from them in its programs and other media.
• Awards will be given to the film director.
